WHEN TO VISIT US
GYN Conditions
Gynecological emergencies are often difficult to detect and treat. When left untreated, these types of emergencies can have severe, even fatal consequences. This is why it is important to be seen by an OB/GYN specialist instead of an ER generalist when experiencing:
- Irregular or heavy bleeding
- Pelvic pain
- Vulvar pain
- Pain while urinating
- Vaginal/vulvar itching
- Abdominal/pelvic swelling
- Nausea and vomiting
- Abnormal cramping
- Possible STDs
- Any other unusual pelvic/abdominal symptoms
Early Pregnancy
Early pregnancy emergencies are emergencies that occur during the first twelve weeks of pregnancy. During this time, there are many situations that can endanger the life of not only the baby but the mother as well. These situations can progress to emergencies that can have fatal consequences, so it is critical to see an OB/GYN specialist who understands the signs of an early pregnancy emergency right away. If you are experiencing any of the following, please go to the GYN Emergent Care Center right away.
- Any vaginal bleeding
- Swelling of the face or fingers
- Severe or continuous headache
- Dimness or blurring of vision
- Abdominal pain
- Persistent vomiting
- Chills or fever
- Burning or pain during urination
- Leaking of fluid from vagina
- Swollen extremities
Breast Problems
Breast pain and lumps are common. Most of these problems are benign (non-cancerous) but still need to be evaluated by a health care provider. If you are experiencing any of the following symptoms, you should be seen by one of our specialists:
- Breast pain
- Tenderness and swelling
- Body aches
- Fatigue
- Breast engorgement
- Fever and chills
- Rigor or shaking
- Nausea or vomiting that is preventing you from taking antibiotics as prescribed
- Pus draining from the breast
- Red streaks extending toward your arm or chest
- Dizziness
- Fainting
- Confusion related to breast pain
